Change is good…

change is goodChange is good.  Not always wanted…but it turns out that sometimes it’s needed, but you don’t always realize that it’s needed….and it’s usually for the best.

And in my case I realized it was for the best.

Some of you may have noticed a BIG change in my website this new year compared to last year.  Yes, I made a change and it was a big one, and definitely an unexpected one.

Yes, I made the change…the change from Young Living to doTERRA.  Why?  Because in my heart I knew it was the right thing to do.  My head though was overcome with negative thoughts and fears.  But I trusted some very important people in my life…but most of all I trusted myself.

“Follow your heart.”  “Your heart knows the answers.”  Words I heard many times from Mastin Kipp, founder of The Daily Love™ and someone I’ve also grown to trust and believe in his teachings.  And he was right…and so was my heart.

When I switched to doTERRA the fears that I had were mostly “Do these oils really work?”  Would they be as effective as Young Living Oils?”  This was about my health and the health of my family..my 3 boys and my husband…it wasn’t just some hobby I had taken up.  This is the real deal and  I knew that the only way to answer these questions was to dive in a try ‘em.  Hey, if I wasn’t impressed I could always go back, right?  What did I have to lose?

And guess what?  They did work, they were VERY effective and worked FASTER!  I was completely amazed. (Though as I said…the heart always knows.)  I am absolutely loving these oils and all the doTERRA products.    I do have to say though that it wasn’t love at first sight.  It took me a few weeks before I really started feeling how great these oils were.  But once I did, I was hooked. Even my son Daniel said to me, “Mom, these new oils are way better!”  And he’s somewhat of an expert to since being exposed to essential oils for the past 7 years.   And kids are great b/c they sometimes just know and feel without judgement.  I do have to say though that it wasn’t love at first sight.

So my next question was…what do I do with my website?  It was a struggle because at first I was contemplating going back and changing all my blogs to reflect the new doTERRA oils.  But then I realized that no, I couldn’t do that.  That was my experience then, that was part of my journey and if I changed it I would be out of integrity.  Young Living was what worked for me then, but doTERRA is what works for me now..and all my future blogs will reflect that.

Now if someone asked what oils can be swapped out for the YL oils in past blogs I would absolutely have an answer for them  But, if they choose to follow the original advice there, then so be it.  Who am I to judge?  We are all on our own separate journeys…and I am grateful to be on mine.

I’ve learned so much in this past year not only about the doTERRA oils but about myself.  And I am confident and very happy that I made the right move.

Now bear with me from now on as I extoll the virtues of doTERRA CPTG® Essential Oils and the amazing difference they’ve made in the health and well being of myself and my entire family.

And if you’d like…feel free to join me on my new adventure…or start one of your own.

Love and Hugs,
Natalie

For adults only…

Yes, I’m a Mom who get stressed, A LOT!  Who doesn’t…mom or not, right?  You don’t have to be a mom to benefit from this blog, or any of my other blogs for that matter.  And especially with the weekend coming you’ll want to listen up…but only if your are over 21.

I went out with the girls the other night.  It had been a while and yes, I needed a drink.  And the place we went to has the BEST martinis ever.  So I ordered a pomegranate martini and it was good.  Then during dinner I ordered another and yes just one more.  (Note:  I was not driving that night).

Now, I’m no spring chicken and nowadays one drink does a job on me..lol.  I could be out for the count the entire next day.  But I couldn’t because it was a weeknight and I had to get up to get the kids to school the next day and do everything else I do throughout the day.  So why did I have 3 martini’s?  Because they were good, I wanted it and I deserved it!

But, I wasn’t worried and all.  And of course you know why – I have my oils.  So this is my quick and easy remedy to avoid a hangover:

As soon as you are ready for bed simply drink a shot (no not alcohol..now that would defeat the purpose wouldn’t it?) of water with 3 drops of fennel and 3 drops of peppermint.  If you have ginger add 3 drops of that too.  You can also do any combination of two of the 3 oils but I find all three work best and second would be fennel and peppermint.  After you’ve done your shot drink 8 oz. of water with with 2 drops of lemon oil to help alkaline your body because after a night of drinking and eating too, you will be very acidic.

And this is what I did that night.  I didn’t have ginger though, just he fennel and peppermint.  And guess what?  I woke up fine the next day.  A bit tired from going to bed later than usual, but otherwise fine.

So remember this the next time you go out and have a few too many.  You’ll thank me for sure!

Have a great weekend!

It’s Allergy Season Again…

Since we are in the midst of allergy season I felt it was important to recycle an older post that talks about seasonal allergies and how I choose to keep them under control without meds. So, here it is…

DLavender Essential Oilo you suffer from seasonal allergies? Well, I don’t but my 7 year old son does…and does he suffer! He’s had seasonal allergies since the age of 3. From April through May he is miserable. He has a May birthday so every picture I have of him on his birthday he looks like Rocky Balboa with the puffy eyes.

His symptoms include coughing, sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes and difficulty breathing. Plus, he also would get eczema on the back of his knees. Each year I had no choice but to give him a plethora of allergy medicines from Benadryl, to Claritin, to Xoponex to steroid inhalers. I could not find a alternative treatment that helped..until I discovered Young Living Essential Oils. Then the relief finally began….thank goodness.

Therapeutic grade Lavender acts as a natural antihistamine, and when combined with Ningxia Red, Young Living’s superfruit supplement infused with lemon and orange essential oils, allergies beware! In RCaddition to the Lavender and Ningxia Red I added two powerful essential oil blends for his asthma like symptoms…Breathe Again Roll-On and RC…both packed with Eucalyptus oils and others to clear the lungs and sinuses. And of course I could not forget Life 5 – a high potency probiotic that promotes healthy immune function – and what are allergies – and immune system response. So why not build up the immune system as much as we can, right? Right! And for the eczema…lavender, lavender and more lavender. Ingesting it with the Ningxia Red and also applying it topically with an all natural organic moisturizer helped tremendously along with an amazing essential oil blend called Gentle Baby.

Life 5Last allergy season my son did not miss one day of school or baseball practice/games and there were no trips to the pediatrician’s office, when in the past that all happened.

I wanted to add that since this post I now also use Peppermint Oil with the Lavender for added benefits.  So if you suffer from seasonal allergies feel free to contact me and I can start you on the road to being allergy free!

My New Favorite Oil

I’ve found a new favorite oil!  I still can’t believe that after 6 years of using Young Living Oils that I had never used this one.  I was very happy with my Thieves and Oregano, and I still am of course.  It just never crossed my mind I guess…until now.

Well, last month Young Living had it’s usual monthly special and I received this oil for FREE!  It was definitely meant to be because I will never be without this oil ever again!

Want to know what it is?  Of course you do.  It’s Immupower.  A powerful blend of immune stimulating, anti-viral and anti-bacterial oils such as: Hyssop, Mountain Savory, Cistus, Ravensara, Frankincense, Oregano, Clove, Cumin and Idaho Tansy.

And here is why it is my new favorite oil:

The other night I began not to feel to well.  My throat was starting to hurt and I got really tired and my glands were very swollen. Then all of a sudden my body started to ache and I got the chills like I’ve never had them before.  I was freeeeezing, I couldn’t warm up. I obviously had a fever too.  My muscles ached so much that I could barely get up to walk to my bedroom.  I was in my kitchen and mustered up the energy to walk over to my oil cabinet and made my self a capsule of Thieves an Oregano.

I then walked up to my bedroom and could not get out of bed once I lied down.  I didnt’ even have the energy to make any more Thieves/Oregano capsules.  BUT, I happened to have my new ImmuPower right next to my bed.  Time to try it.  I didn’t even have the energy to sit up to rub the oil on my feet…so instead I simply kept rubbing it on my throat and my neck…directly over my swollen glands.  I felt like I’d be out of commission for a least a few day.  Which wasn’t good because I had a long awaited girl’s night planned with some friends for the very next night.  I couldn’t cancel since we had been planning it for months.  So I just kept applying the ImmuPower all night, adding Frankincense for some extra strength because that was what was by my bed too.

I finally fell asleep but was woken up in the middle of the nigh by my 4 year old…just great!  The night when I need the good night’s sleep.  My glands were still so swollen, my throat still hurt and my body still ached..plus I still had a fever.  So I used that opportunity to slather myself in more ImmuPower and Frankincense.  (I also added Peace and Calming so I could fall back to sleep).

When I woke up the next morning I could not believe how much better I felt.  I was not 100% but I was at least 75% which was amazing considering how horrible I felt just a few hours before.  So I continued my regimen of Immupower and Frankincense of my neck and throat plus since I was feeling better I was able to make myself a Thieves and oregano capsule.

And guess what!  I was able to go out with the girls that night and I felt fine!

I’ve said it time and time again but I LOVE my oils and now I have a new one to love…IMMUPOWER!

Peace and Calming – It’s that simple

I have caffeine sensitivity.  I can’t really drink it.  It gives me heart palpitation and keeps me up all night, even if I drink it in the morning.  The only thing I could have in the morning is green tea.  Because its caffeine levels are very low I guess my body can tolerate it.  I enjoy drinking tea so some days I like to have my cup of pomegranate green tea.  So yesterday morning that is what I did.

Later that day I went grocery shopping and bought some new flavors of tea because I was getting bored with the ones I had.  I bought some yummy berry flavors.  Around dinner time I wanted to try one of my new teas so I made myself a cup.  It was a yummy blueberry tea with a licorice flavor.  I enjoyed it.

When I went to bed that night I couldn’t fall asleep right away.  That’s not uncommon for me because my days are very busy and I usually need some time to wind down.  Hubby and I talked a little about our days then I started watching T.V.  I was catching up on my American Idol’s that I had DVR’d.

Usually I start dozing off but for some reason I wasn’t.  I felt a bit edgy…and I started to think.  Hhmm, let me go check my tea just in case.  And sure enough what I thought was a tea with no caffeine ended up being a green tea.  And because I had already had green tea that day the double dose threw me for a loop.

So what did I do?  You know, come on…  I went to get my oils.  But which one?  Peace and Calming of course.  This is my favorite oil of all time and it’s works so well when I’ve had too much caffeine.  I found my bottle and applied it topically and also inhaled it.  I just love the smell and the feeling I get from it.

It’s a beautiful blend of Tangerine, Orange Ylang Ylang, and Blue Tansy essential oils.  It is perfect for calming the nerves or emotions after a long day or in times of stress and helps the body relax.  Love it, love it, love it!  It is my absolute favorite oil of all time.  If you tried it you’d understand why.

And wouldn’t you know?  Within probably about 10 minutes I fell fast asleep.  Thank you Peace and Calming.

Essential oils – No Match for Pink Eye

Robbie wasn’t feeling well yesterday so I kept him home from school.  He had a slight cold with a headache.  Nothing major,  I was just playing it safe by keeping him home.

Later that morning he started complaining that his eye was very dry and uncomfortable.  I knew right away what the problem was.  Pink eye was going around and he must be getting it.  So I had my husband do some muscle testing and sure enough….it was pink eye.

I knew what I had to do.  So I ran to the supermarket to buy a potato.  Yes, you heard me correctly,  I said potato.  I’ll explain  in a moment.

As soon as I got home I pulled out these Young Living Oils…Thieves, Oregano, RC and Lavender.  I started applying the first 2 on his feet and the latter 2 in BIG circles around his eyes…temples, forehead, cheekbones.  I applied often throughout the day, about every 2 hours.

Around dinner time Robbie fell asleep.  When he woke up about and hour or two later he was crying, he was in pain, his right eye was beat red and it was tearing and oozing.  He was so upset.  More oils to the rescue….and now the potato.

I had read somewhere a long time ago that a raw white potato can be helpful for treating pink eye.  Because it acts as an astringent it pulls out all the yucky stuff from the eye.  (Yes, yucky is a medical term…lol.)  I proceeded to slice a thin piece of potato wrap it in a paper towel and placed it on Robbie’s eye.  As the potato was on his eye he was complaining of how much it hurt.  I told him that was all the “yuckies” coming out.

As the potato was on his eye I applies Thieves, Oregano and now Peppermint (because his fever spiked) to his feet.  I took the potato off after 10 minutes then applied RC and Lavender around his eyes.  I had him lie down to try to sleep again.

After about 10 minutes I heard talking in his room and Daniel, my oldest son, saying, “I guess you’re feeling better Rob.”  And Robbie ran out of his room laughing and playing!  I was amazed at how fast things calmed down.  His eye was still red but there was no more pain, oozing or fever.  He was so happy and so was I.

But, at about 1:00 in the morning Robbie woke me up in pain again.  Uh oh!  This time it was the other eye.  So I used the exact same regimen and in about 10 – 15 minutes he was back to normal and back to sleep.  Good for me too, I didn’t have to be up all night.

This morning he was absolutely fine, his eyes slightly red but not much at all.  I will continue my regimen of oils (sans potato) throughout today and  most likely tomorrow too just to be sure the infection  is out of his system.

Every day I am more and more amazed at how these oils work.  I’ve witnessed it so many times and I am so thankful that I was introduced to Young Living 7 years ago.

God Bless,

Natalie

Are You Prepared For Cold And Flu Season?

cold and fluJust the other day I woke up not feeling well.  My throat was scratchy, my glands were swollen, I had a stuffy nose and my body was achy.

“Oh crap! I’m getting sick!”  Not good…kids just started school and back to the daily routine.  I can’t get sick now! I’m way too busy!

Plus, if I get sick it will most likely travel around the whole house.  First the kids then my husband…No, not now!

BUT….no, not now!  Exactly! Because I knew that I can nip this in the bud.  I may have started out not feeling well that morning but I know I was going to end well by the next morning.

I know that I’ve mentioned these two oils time and time again.  But guess what?  I’m going to mention them again.  And probably again and again.  Why?  Because these two oils, in my opinion are the most powerful combo when it comes to cold/flu/virus like symptoms.

thieves essential oil blendSo what are they?  Thieves and Oregano.  As soon as I feel something oregano essential oilcoming on, that’s what I go to and they never fail me.  They are my “antibiotic” of choice.  I prefer natural over chemicals for my self and my family for our health challenges. It just gives me peace of mind.

So I took my  Thieves and Oregano throughout the day with of course a few extra ounces of Ningxia Red – and guess what?  I woke up the next morning and I felt as good as gold!

So don’t fret about this fall/winter season and getting a cold or the flu.  Take it from me.  Keep some Thieves and Oregano on hand on your medicine chest.   You won’t regret it!

My Kids, Back to School and Essential Oils

My kids started school this week and I miss them already.  We had a wonderful summer together…lots of fun and we created some great, everlasting memories.

This year is a bit different though because my little guy started Pre-K.  He’ll be there every afternoon.  This is the first time in over 9 years that I will be alone without at lease one child to take care of.

It’s a strange feeling – kind of bittersweet.  Exciting to see them grow up and become a little more independent each day, but on the other hand I’d love to keep them little forever and never leave my side.

I love my children unconditionally and I want to protect them any way I can.  They are my world an I would do anything to protect them.

And that is the main reason I use essential oils and make them part of my daily routine for their health, my health and the health and well-being of our entire family.  Especially now since they will be bombarded with bacteria and germs that travel around the schools.

I love more than anything that they ask me for oils when they are not feeling well.  For something as little as a mosquito bite to bigger things like a sore throat,  a stomach ache or allergies.

Essential oils have been a part of our lives for over 6 years how and I know that they will always have a place in our home and our lives.

Because I believe and know that Young Living Essential Oils are safe and effective and I wouldn’t ask for anything less to protect my family and their well-being.

God Bless!

Essential Oils – Never Leave Home Without Them

I was on vacation with my family last week.  We took a road trip to Myrtle Beach, SC.  Always a great time!

Thank God I had no pressing need for my essential oils, (well, except for the 13 hour drive form New Jersey to South Carolina with 3 kids, I did use lots of peppermint for my headache..lol) but of course I brought them anyway.

I brought Thieves, Oregano and Breathe-Again Roll-on just incase anyone caught a cold / flu and of course Lavender for potential sun burn.  Most importantly I had my Citrus Oils – Grapefruit, Orange and Lemon.Young Living Citrus Oils

Being on vacation we (I) tend to indulge a bit more,  our bodies can become very acidic and we may put on some weight.  Citrus oils can alkaline the body and burn fat.  What more could I ask for!

Of course I brought lots more oils with me for many different reasons.  I’ll get to those is future blogs.

But for now I’ll leave you with this:  NEVER travel without essential oils.

Until next week….be happy, be healthy!

Oh, My Infected Toe

The other night as I was sleeping (and if you read my last blog you’ll know why ;-) )I felt so much pain in my right pinky toe that it woke me up.  Didn’t know what was causing it at the time but it was very uncomfortable.  It just amazes me sometimes how the littlest thing can cause so much pain.

I’ve had many kidney stones when I was younger AND I delivered 3 children with no epidural so my tolerance for pain is pretty high.  But this damn pinky toe felt excruciating.  Go figure.

In any event, I was able to fall back to sleep (thanks to my sleep oils), but when morning came I still had the pain.  I looked at my toe and noticed that it was red and a bit swollen.  Upon closer examination it seemed like a hang nail or ingrown toenail…something like that.  It also looked like it was becoming a bit infected.

My first instinct told me to go with my trusty old “I have some type of infection oil.”  The two oils I use in in this case are Thieves and Oregano.

Young Living’s Thieves essential oil blend was created based on the historical account of four thieves in France who protected themselves from the Black Plague with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing victims of the killer disease. When captured, they were offered a lighter sentence in exchange for their secret recipe. Young Living’s proprietary Thieves oil blend includes clove, cinnamon bark, rosemary, lemon, and Eucalyptus Radiata and has been specially blended to offer the same kind of defense.

Oregano is one of the most powerful and versatile essential oils. It contains strong immune-enhancing and antioxidant properties.  It is my antibiotic of choice.  And the two oils together are a powerhouse!

So I simply rubbed one drop of each oil on my toe 3 times that day.  And by the next day the swelling and pain were almost gone.  Two more applications that next day, and by the third day all was back to normal.  My foot smelled like a pizza…but oh well, it worked.  Thank God too because I need a pedicure.
